Rolling off the back of yesterday’s Firefly Day, today is the birthday of Gina Torres, a lady with serious sci-fi actress glamazon chops. Torres has been on Xena: Warrior Princess. Her voice is in Justice League Unlimited (The Cheetah!) Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths (Superwoman!) and Star Wars Rebels (Ketsu Onyo!).  She was in Alias, 24, Cleopatra 2525 and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. She did a quick driveby in Westworld. And she was  Zoe Washburn on Firefly. She rules. Happy Birthday, Ms. Torres.

Today is also DNA Day, which means you can celebrate your genes happily. It’s a celebration of the Human Genome Project and the day in 1953 when the first papers on the structure of DNA were published. The United States Congress declared it a one-day holiday in 2003, but it’s generally celebrated by scientists on this day each year.  As we started listing the insane amount of DNA themed Sci-fi stories, we spun a little out of control.  So we thought we’d ask you – if you had ONE DNA based movie, book, or even an episode of television to suggest to someone – what would that be? Only one! Give that one a whirl and let us know why.  For thought starters, you can check out this list we’ve put together.
