Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman, pretty much has the entire ocean realm to defend him if need be: Up until now, he's had a social media embargo as well. That embargo has now lifted, and it's time for this wet-and-wild hero to face a tidal wave of social media scrutiny.

James Wan's big-screen Aquaman features Jason Momoa in the title role as he stars alongside Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, and Nicole Kidman, among others. What are the first reactions to this watery romp? Put another way: In terms of the films in the DCEU, do we have a Wonder Woman, or do we have a... not Wonder Woman?

** WARNING: From this point forward, there will be slight spoilers for Aquaman. If you wish to go in completely cold, then grab some kind of sea-beast and let it carry you away. Better yet, just start swimming. **

The word is resoundingly positive.

Fandango's Erik Davis tweets that the movie "is the most ambitious DC movie to date— a big, sprawling visual spectacle that is gorgeous, crazy, stuffed with terrific action, and a lot of fun to watch. James Wan, in my opinion, is the true star— he elevates the material, makes it entertaining and conquers it."

Another tweets that the movie "is bonkers! Ambitious, campy & so much fun. James Wan embraces the source material by creating a one-of-a-kind superhero origin story that stands out in a sea of other superhero films."

Dan Casey calls it his new favorite DCEU movie, tweeting that the movie is "full of humor, massive set pieces, and incredibly inventive designs. James Wan knocked this out of the park."

Ben Mekler has the hottest tweet. If Aquaman doesn't have a musical number (Amber Heard singing Part Of Your World. Please), we're chaining ourselves to radiators and/or water coolers.

Scott Wampler tweets that the movie has bucked expectations, noting, "Against all odds, I really dug Aquaman, which offers thrills chills and a whole lotta adventure for the whole family!"

More reactions are of the same ilk, with one user comparing it to MCU movies. It's not Twitter if everyone agrees, however...another user called the movie "flawed, but fun."

At least for now, it looks like we might have a swimmingly great adventure in store for us.

Aquaman dives into theaters everywhere on Dec. 20.
