It took eight seasons, but Supernatural fans are about to see the archangel Michael return in a pretty apocalyptic way. But, before you get your hopes up, this is a new Michael. Poor Adam is still in the cage (sad trombone).
Michael returns thanks to the rift in space time created during the birth of Lucifer's Nephilim son aka the Anti-Christ, Jack (new series regular Alexander Calvert). This Michael (played by Christian Keyes) never had to deal with Sam or Dean stopping him and Lucifer from fighting because the Winchesters don't exist in that alternate reality. Apocalypse Michael not only fought Lucifer but handed Luci his proverbial ass.
“The Michael of apocalypse world is the victor,” showrunner Andrew Dabb told Entertainment Weekly, which debuted the first look. “He’s a very different character than the one we met even in Season 5. He’s Genghis Khan. He’s been through the wars. He’s conquered the world.”
Our sneak peek at this new incarnation of Michael puts him face to face with Lucifer and Mary Winchester, both of whom have been trapped there. That's going to be one hell of a meeting, don't you think?
Supernatural Season 13 debuts on Oct. 12 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
