That Archie movie you thought would have zombies in it? Here's the truth

You may have heard that the live-action Archie movie will play host to a horde of the undead. Well ...

Writer and producer of Glee Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is making an Archie movie. Roberto also wrote an Archie comic that featured zombies. And so, in very short order, word got out that this live-action Archie flick was going to be a retelling of that zombie story. But is it?

Not according to Aguirre-Sacasa.

The movie and this series are completely separate entities…Jon [Goldwater] and I have been talking about the movie for a while now — in fact, now that I’m remembering that breakfast where we first discussed ‘Afterlife With Archie,’ it was at a breakfast meeting for the ‘Archie’ movie, which is going to be a straight-up teen movie. It’s Archie’s coming-of-age story. Hopefully, it will be the ‘Archie’ movie people have been anticipating for 70-plus years. And here’s a tidbit: Expect to see fan-favorites Cheryl Blossom and Kevin Keller in it, in very prominent ways.

So less with the zombies and more with the coming of age. Which, to be honest, is not so hard to believe. And, as longtime comic fans, we're thankful Archie's sticking to its roots for this movie.

Now, if there's a sequel, then they should bring in some zombies.
