Are Justice League and The Avengers really the same movie? Here's how they match up, and it's uncanny

Justice League and 2012's The Avengers have a great deal in common, up to and including the fact that Joss Whedon helmed The Avengers and took the reins of Justice League after Zack Snyder departed the DC superhero movie following a family tragedy.

But we didn’t realize how much the two films had in common until we saw this video from ScreenCrush.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

This short clip compares the two films in a way that is so spot-on, it’s almost eerie to watch. For example:

“…A man and a woman are recruiting heroes as these heroes are going about their daily lives. The man recruits a reclusive superpowered person. The woman recruits a character who sees himself as a monster.”

Side-by-side footage helps land the message that Justice League may have tread on familiar territory.

Although it’s a good video and sharp in its observations, it also serves as a reminder that Justice League is out there, right now, trying to earn back its reported $300 million budget. It's got an uphill battle: The film underwhelmed with a $96 million domestic opening weekend — the worst opening for any DCEU film — and a new report projects that the film could lose $50-$100 million for Warner Bros.

Let us know in the comments what you thought of Justice League ... and whether it's fair to compare it to The Avengers.
