Arrow star Willa Holland has a beef against DC. The actress, known to fans as Thea Queen/Speedy on the show, wasn’t a happy camper when DC/Warner Bros. squashed their plans for the Suicide Squad.
While at MCM London Comic Con over the weekend, Holland railed against DC’s decision to keep their cinematic and TV universes separate and forcing them to put the final nail in the coffin of their Task Force X version.
“Marvel does it in their own weird way - the mash between Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and the movies and stuff. So it's a little upsetting because you know it is possible and it can be done and how good it would be if it was done.”
Task Force X (aka the Suicide Squad) and a few team members -- including the show’s versions of Deadshot (Michael Rowe) and Amanda Waller (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) -- appeared in several Season 1 episodes of Arrow, but the show was forced to kill them off when DC decided to make a Suicide Squad movie.
Something else that didn’t sit well with the actress? Not casting Stephen Amell and Grant Gustin as their respective small-screen characters of Green Arrow and The Flash in the movies. Here’s what Holland said:
“We get it, we're not going to fight about it anymore. When DC found out they were going to be doing their own [Suicide Squad] movie we had to axe all of the characters before we even got to show them. It was annoying at first and then when Stephen found out there was going to be a Justice League movie it only seemed, rightly so, he would be playing Green Arrow on it as well as Grant playing the Flash. It just seemed like the right normal answer. Once they said no, you can't really fight against them for it, because they are the people that gave us a job in the first place. You just have to sit there on your hands, like okay, I get it”
What do you think of Willa Holland's comments?
