The CW's Black Lightning is still in the middle of its debut season, but other stars of the network's DC-inspired shows are already anticipating Jefferson Pierce's crossover into the Arrowverse. Speaking at Awesome Con in Washington D.C., Arrow's main star, Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen), stated that it's more of an inevitability than a mere possibility, writes ComicBook.com.
"Everyone pretends like we’re not going to eventually cross over with Black Lightning, but we're probably gonna cross over with Black Lightning, because that's just the way that the world works," he said.
With that in mind, CW President Mark Pedowitz said in May of last year that the network did “not intend” to do a five-show crossover with Arrow, Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl. Even so, the show was dropping easter eggs about the Arrowverse just two episodes ago, meaning these characters are obviously aware of the heroes out there. At this point, there aren't immediate plans for a crossover, but with the existence of the multiverse, anything is possible in future seasons. In the meantime, the references to a larger world place Black Lightning in this wider comic book universe without explicity bringing in other crime-fighters and villains.
Put simply, they have the wiggle room to go anywhere down the line.
"I think that anything you can do to expand the universe and to build out what we've built on our show would be great," Amell continued. "So I'm glad that show's doing well, I hope that it has a very successful run, and I would love to be a small part of it in some way, shape, or form."
Black Lightning's next episode, ""Black Jesus: The Book of Crucifixion," airs April 3.
