Arrow's next big bad will be a ruthless, Idris Elba-inspired crime lord

After taking on Damien Darhk and all his magic shenanigans in Season 4, it seems The CW’s Arrow will be taking a back-to-basics approach with its next Big Bad. Judging by how the network is pitching this, it sounds like a very cool move.

TV Line reports the fifth season’s Big Bad, code-named “Anton Church,” is a ruthless crime lord who will arrive in Star City looking to fill the power vacuum left behind by Darhk’s defeat as H.I.V.E. is no longer in operation. Per the report, the character is described as an “apex predator” who “cuts his way through the shadows” by taking down “the biggest threat first.”

Even cooler? They liken the character to Idris Elba’s drug lord from The Wire, Stringer Bell, who was a ruthless and savvy criminal in his own right. But just because he’s smart doesn’t mean he won’t be willing to get physical. As far as actor types, the network is floating the positively massive Game of Thrones alum Jason Momoa as a template for the character — meaning he should be big enough to beat the stew out of the friendly neighborhood Green Arrow.

So, who do you think this character might be? An original creation for the TV series, or a DC baddie in disguise? Who do you think might fit the bill?
