It's beginning to look a lot like crossover season! The Arrowverse is about to give viewers their epic yearly gift, and though DC's Legends of Tomorrow aren't participating this crossover season, The Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl most certainly are. This year's event is called "Elseworlds," and judging from The CW's just released synopses, even without Legends, this year's crossover will certainly make up for their absence.
For starters, this year they are finally including Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) in the event, and will also introduce Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch), Batwoman (Ruby Rose), and Gotham City itself. What exactly will the three-part story entail? Up until now we've only gotten some general impressions thanks to a flurry of promos, but now The CW has listed the full synopses for all three installments, so we officially know what we're dealing with (as well as what night we'll be doing the dealing).
**SPOILER WARNING: There are spoilers following for the Arrowverse "Elseworlds" crossover event. If you don't want to know anything about it, then RUN, BARRY...RUN!**
Everything kicks off with The Flash, on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 8:00 p.m. In "Elseworlds, Part 1," Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Oliver Queen (guest star Stephen Amell) wake up and realize they have swapped bodies with each other. In attempting to get to the bottom of it, they try to enlist the aid of Team Flash, but nobody's buying their story. They go to Earth-38 to get help from Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), and it is here that they meet Kara's cousin Clark, as well as Lois Lane. LaMonica Garrett will also guest-star as The Monitor. Kevin Tancharoen directs the episode, which is written by Eric Wallace & Sam Chalsen.
If you really can't wait for the Arrowverse to get down Gotham style, then you'll have your chance with Arrow on Monday, Dec. 10, at 8 p.m. "Elseworlds, Part 2" will find Barry and Oliver are still stuck in each other's bodies, but a lead on what's really going on will bring them to Gotham, with Supergirl in tow. It is there that they will meet Kate "Batwoman" Kane, and will welcome Ruby Rose to the Arrowverse. Not only will we get Batwoman in the episode, we'll get another Gotham landmark as well — Kane's information will lead the trio to Arkham Asylum. Jeremy Davies will guest-star as John Deegan, a change-up from Davies' somewhat-Arrowverse-adjacent role of Ritchie Simpson on Constantine. James Bamford directed the episode, which was written by Marc Guggenheim.
Everything concludes with Supergirl, on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 8 p.m. In "Elseworlds, Part 3," Supergirl, Superman, Green Arrow, and the Flash will all "engage in the battle of their lives"! Jesse Warn directed the episode, with a story by Marc Guggenheim and a teleplay by Derek Simon and Robert Rovner.
With so much DC goodness packed into three nights, we find it highly unlikely that the crossover will fail this city. The body-swapping, Gotham-visiting, Superman-including craziness begins Dec. 9, only on The CW. All hail Beebo!
