Starz must have a lot of faith in Ash vs. Evil Dead. The series, which debuts this Halloween, has already been renewed for a second season. Yes, you read that right. The series is a continuation of The Evil Dead films that starred Bruce Campbell. The actor will reprise his iconic role as Ash Williams on the show.
“One season isn’t enough to satisfy the fans’ two decade-long appetite for more Ash,” said Carmi Zlotnik, Managing Director of Starz. “The early fan and press support, along with the international broadcaster demand for more story have made it clear that the adventures of Ash Williams can’t end with season one.”
Ash vs. Evil Dead has received a lot of a goodwill due to the return of not only its original star but its creative team. Evil Dead filmmakers Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert are also on board as executive producers. Campbell will be joined by another fan favorite in the form of Lucy Lawless. The actress previously worked with him on Xena: The Warrior Princess, another Raimi/Tapert production.
This isn't the first show to get renewed before its series debut. Earlier this summer, USA's Mr. Robot also picked up a second season order ahead of schedule. So Ash vs. Evil Dead is in good company. Look for the horror comedy to return in 2016 with a 10-episode order.
