Attack on Titan fans have experience waiting for new seasons of the anime adaptation to arrive, but they won’t have to wait for long this time. While there was a four-year gap between the first and second seasons, Attack on Titan Season 3 is set to arrive only a year after the Season 2 finale. And thanks to Funimation, fans in the United States and Canada will actually be able to see the Season 3 premiere before it debuts in Japan.
Funimation has announced that it will bring the Attack on Titan anime series to movie theaters in North America for a special two-night event, from July 10-11. The centerpiece of the event will be the third-season premiere. However, the recap film, Attack on Titan Season 2 Movie: Roar of Awakening, will be shown before the season premiere to bring everyone up to speed on the show’s current status quo.
This is a big moment for the Attack on Titan franchise, as the screenings reflect its continually growing fanbase in America and Canada. There will even be viewing options for fans who prefer the original Japanese cast recordings. On Tuesday, July 10, Funimation will show the recap movie and the third season premiere in Japanese with English subtitles. The English dub of both presentations will be shown the following night, July 11.
Only 130 theaters are lined up to participate in the Attack on Titan Season 3 screenings — check back with Funimation's website for the full list once that becomes available. Advance tickets will go on sale starting on June 8.
