Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge feels a little closer rather than far, far, away.
In a report by WDW News Today, Disney’s chairman of Parks, Experiences, and Consumer Products, Bob Chapek, announced during the Destination D event the names of the main attractions for the new Star Wars-themed park that will open in summer 2019 at Disneyland and in fall 2019 at Walt Disney World.
We knew that there was going to be a ride where you were in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon. It’s called Smugglers Run and will feature two of the best in the game, Hondo Ohnaka and Chewbacca.
The other attraction, called Rise of the Resistance, will be like Star Tours and puts fans (and people fans drag onto the ride, so they won’t have to go alone) amid a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.
While we don’t know if you’ll be traversing the Kessel Run in Smugglers Run, we can confirm that Rise of the Resistance will feature a showdown with Kylo Ren.
In exciting, yet unsurprising news when you think about it, John Williams is composing an original score that you will hear throughout the new park. Take a look/listen down below to get a taste of what's in store.
Yesterday, we reported how Disney is going all in with incorporating its acquisitions (Marvel, Lucasfilm, Pixar) into its theme parks. From the looks of these announcements, quality is just as important as quantity.
