After its debut in Avengers: Age of Ultron, the Hulkbuster suit has been a large, robotic point of speculation for fans as we near the release of Infinity War. Mostly, the rumor has been that the massive Iron Man derivation isn’t being piloted by Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark at all, but by the actual Hulk, Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo). Now, thanks to pictures that have surfaced online of a new LEGO set, we have something much more solid for fans to hold onto.
LEGO has previously released all sorts of spoilerific content, so the image below of Bruce Banner’s mini-fig accompanying the Hulkbuster suit to fight alongside LEGO Falcon (Anthony Mackie) isn’t hard to take as truth:
The more tricky stuff to swallow is the small amount of plotting on display in the rest of the set.
There’s an Infinity Stone included in every single LEGO set from the film (“Sanctum Sanctorum Showdown,” “Thanos: Ultimate Battle,” “Corvus Glaive Thresher Attack,” “Thor’s Weapon Quest,” and “Outrider Dropship Attack”), so the object of their battle may not be entirely in sync with the script.
The member of the supervillain team The Black Order that appears to be in the set, Proxima Midnight (the lady with the spear), might not actually be their foe—but the fact that Banner is inside the Hulkbuster has implications that the hero is suppressing the other, angrier, greener side of himself that, as we discovered in Thor: Ragnarok, is becoming more adept at shutting out Bruce completely.
These LEGO sets will be available sometime in March, and Avengers: Infinity War drops on May 4.
