Avengers: Infinity War nabbed the fourth-highest preview opening in history Thursday night with an impressive $39 million, reports Variety, the biggest for any Marvel or superhero film. This puts the massive ensemble project behind Star Wars: The Force AwakensStar Wars: The Last Jedi, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, also in terms of preview openings. The movie bows everywhere today in a total of 4,474 theaters, the most locations for any Disney film in history, although Despicable Me 3 (released last summer) just beats it with 4,529 theaters.

When it comes to the weekend draw, Infinity War is expected to take in between $225 to $250 million domestically. To date, The Force Awakens still holds the biggest domestic weekend opening of all time with $248 million, but it's not hard to imagine that the 19th movie to join the MCU could easily top that. After all, it is one of the most ambitious crossovers in history that took 10 years to create.

It's even more likely when you take into account the fact that the record-breaking Black Panther made over $240 million in its opening weekend alone, going on to surpass the first Avengers domestically and crossing the $1 billion internationally.

On the global stage, Infinity War has already racked up $95 million, per Variety, having opened in 21 markets a day early on Wednesday. That number was expanded to 22 on Thursday, with the film scoring the biggest openings ever in Korea, Brazil, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Central America, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, and UAE. In the United Kingdom and Germany, it held 89% and 85% of the market share respectively, the U.K. debut being the biggest Marvel opening in history.

The third Avengers reportedly cost around $300 million to make, and at this rate, things are looking pretty positive for the film to turn a very tidy profit.
