The first few teasers for Damon Lindelof’s The Leftovers have been intriguing, but the first full trailer sets the stage for what looks like a cool supernatural drama.
Though Lindelof is a controversial figure in the wake of the Lost finale, he’s made some compelling television over the years, and the footage and themes here look like a fantastic jumping-off point for a series. Hey, he's due for a return to form, right?
The show is based on Tom Perotta’s novel of the same name, and the HBO series focuses on a community of people left behind after an apparent Rapture-like event. We learn a lot more about the plot here, and it seems there will be two different factions breaking out among the survivors left behind.
The series stars Justin Theroux, Liv Tyler, Christopher Eccleston, Amy Brenneman, Michael Gaston and Ann Dowd. The series is set to debut June 29.
One warning of note: The premiere was actually delayed a few weeks to allow some additional work on the back half of the season, so feel free to insert your own Lindelof joke here.
