Why is Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski so intent on destroying America? At the moment: It's his job. He's teaming up with Jerry Bruckheimer to adapt 2K Games' Shattered Union, Variety reported.

According to the game's Web site, Shattered Union deals with the fallout of a great increase in terrorism, internal strife and, ultimately, the nuclear destruction of Washington, D.C. The United States shatters into a half-dozen nation-states that descend into war. Players take charge of one of these newfound sovereignties (or the "peacekeeping" European Expeditionary Force) and struggle to reunify America by any means necessary.

Straczynski's other new projects include the upcoming martial-arts film Ninja Assassin, a new Silver Surfer movie, a reboot of Forbidden Planet, and an adaptation of Max Brook's zombie-apocalypse book, World War Z.
