Back to the Future cast gets back together for present-day reunion photo

Maybe the original Back to the Future cast should’ve made a quick detour to the year 2018 to see how spiffy they’d all look more than three decades after Marty McFly first traveled back in time, because everyone is looking really, really good in a new cast reunion shot that hit Instagram over the weekend.

Fox, Thomas F. Wilson (Biff Tannen), Christopher Lloyd (Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown), and Lea Thompson (Lorraine Baines McFly) all ended up at the Fan Expo Boston convention Sunday, and all four lined up for a shot that makes us wonder how these great-looking people aren’t still talking about another time-leaping BTTF sequel.

If any of these folks have aged a day, it definitely falls under the category of aging with character (Lloyd basically look like the same old Doc, and Wilson looks ready to teach a new generation of kids how to bully the old-fashioned way).

Each cast member sent out their own version of the photo (or a similar one) via social media, with Fox even welcoming his onscreen tormentor gladly into the fold. “Back in 2018, even Biff made it,” Fox quipped.

“This was special,” Lloyd wrote, while Thomspon celebrated “[f]our old friends…back from the future.” Wilson seemed the most jacked up about the reunion, though: “Wow. This just happened,” he posted.

While it seems like a long shot that the cast’s real-life reunion could translate back to the big screen for a fourth Back to the Future installment, at least we know the look of the thing is still right, and that the camaraderie set down by working together on one of sci-fi’s most appealing franchises is still solid.

For his part, Lloyd said recently he’d be “delighted” to appear in another BTF movie, if Robert Zemeckis were to land on the right story to continue where the first three movies left off. And if Back to the Future 4 ever does happen, what more could we ask than having these guys appear in it? Well, we could ask that somebody re-recruit Huey Lewis and the News to write the next theme song…but hey — maybe we should quit while we’re still ahead.
