Batman and Robin reunite: Adam West and Burt Ward working on new project

For those of us who love the original 1960s Batman TV series, there's good news today.

According to Cinemablend, Adam West -- who hammed it up as Batman and Bruce Wayne for three seasons on the beloved ABC campfest -- told an audience at Megacon 2016 that Burt Ward, who played Robin on the show, and he are teaming up for a secret new project:

"Well, I have a gag order...However... No no, me and Burt have been working on a new project that's just gonna knock your socks off, and believe me, it's our Batman and Robin!"

Now, Ward and West have been regulars on the convention circuit for years as they've basked in the nostalgia surrounding the old show (see our interview with West here regarding 2014's mammoth Blu-ray box set), and they even did a TV movie together in 2003 called Return to the Batcave: The Misadventures of Adam and Burt. So the idea of them working together again on something new is both kind of sweet and potentially exciting. But what could it be?

Well, the pair announced last year that they might voice the Dynamic Duo for some kind of animated film (most likely direct-to-DVD) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the TV show in 2016, but we haven't heard anything about it since and we'd have to mark that as far from confirmed until some kind of official word comes from DC Entertainment. So it could be that or something else entirely.

Whatever the project ends up being, it's great to see that these guys are still friends after all these years (West is 87 and Ward is 70) and still mustering up the energy to get together on something. Hopefully it's a lot of fun for all concerned, including the fans. What do you think the one-time Caped Crusader and Boy Wonder are cooking up?
