For nearly 80 years, the Caped Crusader has joined forces with a host of other crimefighters and superheroes to quell the insidious influx of evil. From Catwoman and Hellboy to the Beatles and Sherlock Holmes, Batman has been paired with an extraordinary array of characters from all corners of literature and pop culture.

Just when you thought every team-up had been covered, DC's Injustice digital-first comic series is entering Mattel's realm of Masters of the Universe with a crazy new crossover that will bring the mighty heroics of He-Man into the folds of the Dark Knight's overarching mythology.

Written by Tim Seeley (Nightwing, Green Lanterns), with art by Freddie E. Williams II (Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), He-Man and his MOTU gang will unite with Batman inside the cruel confines of Injustice's battleworld, where a maniacal Man of Steel lords over his beaten disciples.

Titled Injustice vs. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, the title will find Prince Adam matching muscles with Batman in the weird multiverse of DC's comic offering, which acts as a bridge between NetherRealm Studios' fantastic fighting games, Injustice: Gods Among Us, and Injustice 2. Popping in and out of dimensional portals, the Dark Knight is on the warpath, recruiting willing accomplices in his quest to stop Superman's insane reign of terror. Sound like fun?

Here's the official solicitation synopsis:

Believing He-Man and the Masters of the Universe defeated, a robotic impostor has seized control of Eternia — but not for long! After freeing his kingdom from this strongman’s rule, He-Man learns not everyone is pleased to see the pretender deposed — but Adam knows the value of freedom. When heroes from another dimension ask his aid in deposing a superhero turned dictator, he agrees. Teaming up with Batman against the Superman of the Injustice Universe, He-Man and his new allies face dangerous and familiar enemies in a battle where no world is safe!

We'll keep you posted as more lettered art arrives, but this could be a killer six-issue crossover leading to more intriguing pairings of pop-culture personalities.

Injustice vs. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe #1 hits July 18.
