Are you a massive fan of Batman: The Animated Series, the beloved classic that launched the DC Animated Universe and remains one of the greatest comic book adaptations of all time? Of course you are! Have you ever wished you could take that iconic series and use its magic for board game night with your friends? Well, you're in luck, because a Batman: TAS tabletop game is just months away.
Batman: The Animated Series - Gotham Under Siege, the first in a planned series of games based on the series, is set to launch this summer from IDW Games, the company announced this week. Designed by Richard Launius (Elder Sign) with co-designer Michael Guigliano, the game will allow up to five players to battle supervillains and keep the streets clean in the animated universe of Gotham City, complete with new artwork, miniatures, and 3D buildings.
According to IDW, the game "puts players in the role of Gotham’s heroes as they use dice allocation and threat management to defend the city against henchmen and bosses, and fight to save the city from being destroyed." Character miniatures will include Batman, Batgirl, Catwoman, Robin, and the team of Commissioner Gordon and Renee Montoya.
Batman: The Animated Series - Gotham Under Siege is set to release sometime in August, with a preview scheduled for this year's Origins Game Fair next month. In the meantime, IDW is already at work on future games set in the animated series universe, including "settings new and still familiar," so that Justice League tabletop game you've been longing for may eventually arrive.
