Batman v Superman's Henry Cavill went incognito in Times Square to prove glasses really are a good disguise

The fact that Superman can hide behind a pair of glasses and not be noticed is one of the goofier parts of the comic lore, but Man of Steel star Henry Cavill is out to prove the subtle disguise really does work.

As part of a very clever bit of promo work for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Cavill headed out to Times Square (which is loaded with billboards and promos for the film) to stroll around and see if anyone noticed him, adding "glasses are good enough" to the comments. To have a bit more fun, he even donned a Superman shirt. Dude. He didn't even need the glasses.

Of course, as you've likely guessed, all those busy New Yorkers just ignored him and kept rolling by. Though this really begs the question — is it that easy to go incognito, or is Cavill just that unrecognizable to the general public (“Hey! Isn’t that the largely generic, square-jawed guy I vaguely recognize from that so-so Superman movie a few years ago?!”)? Ahem.
