Sure, David Goyer is pretty busy writing Batman vs. Superman at the moment, but that doesn’t mean he’s not thinking about which DC characters could be coming down the pipeline.

The writer, who also penned Man of Steel, had a wide-ranging chat with Collider about everything from DC to his historical fantasy series Da Vinci’s Demons, and he teased which DC character he would “love” to tackle soon.

While talking about the Krypton-set scenes in Man of Steel, Goyer noted the alien-ness of it all, and said he definitely wants to tackle a Green Lantern film in the same vein. Of course, we already got a Green Lantern film in 2011, starring Ryan Reynolds, which was sadly a muddled mess. Plus, it’s hard to argue that the look of those early Man of Steel scenes wouldn’t fit an intergalactic Lantern adventure.

Here’s an excerpt from Goyer’s comments:

“I would love to do Green Lantern, I really wanted to showcase Krypton as a truly alien world, that was one of the things I wanted to do from the beginning when I got involved in the project. Superman has always been a science fiction story, and we really wanted to lean into that.”

Considering the fact that Warner Bros. brass are already teasing a new “series” of films around DC properties, it stands to reason that Goyer could get his wish soon enough. What do you think?

Would you like to see the studio take another crack at the Green Lantern? Should they skip over Hal Jordan and head straight into John Stewart's story (with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in the lead role, perhaps)?
