The untitled Batman/Superman team-up movie has added a few more names to its cast, and one of them is an Oscar winner.
According to Deadline (via Slashfilm), Holly Hunter has joined Zack Snyder's Man of Steel sequel in an unspecified role. Hunter, who won a Best Actress Oscar for The Piano, has largely stayed away from genre fare prior to this. Apparently her character is original to this film and not taken from the DC Comics universe.
Also signing up for the big superhero bash are Callan Mulvey and Tao Okamoto. Mulvey was recently seen in 300: Rise of an Empire and will show up this weekend in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, while Okamoto played Logan's love interest in last summer's The Wolverine. Like Hunter, they are playing characters created just for this movie.
Of course, Hunter isn't the only Oscar winner in the cast: Ben Affleck (Bruce Wayne) has a couple on his shelf for co-writing Good Will Hunting and producing Argo, while Jeremy Irons (Alfred) has got a little gold man at home for Best Actor, which he won for Reversal of Fortune.
The rest of the cast includes Henry Cavill (Superman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White) and Diane Lane (Martha Kent), and I imagine we might hear of a few more actors coming on board as Batman/Superman begins its long march to May 6, 2016.
