The BBC has released a brand-new trailer featuring its Christmas programs lineup, along with some new teasing bits from Doctor Who.

“The Time of the Doctor”—which will be Matt Smith’s swan song as the beloved Time Lord before he regenerates into Peter Capaldi—will air on Christmas Day.

The new bits show the Doctor and Clara (Jenna Coleman) enjoying a bit of Yuletide fun with an as-yet-unknown family, some frightening Cybermen and pesky Daleks, plus fiery explosions! All in all, it looks like a perfectly cheerful Xmas special.

And here's the synopsis:

Orbiting a quiet backwater planet, the massed forces of the universe’s deadliest species gather, drawn to a mysterious message that echoes out to the stars. And amongst them – the Doctor.
