Yabba-Dabba Doo! On Tuesday, Warner Bros. has unveiled details on two zones of its soon-to-open theme park in Abu Dhabi —The Flintstones’ Bedrock and Dynamite Gulch.
The two zones are among six within Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, a 1.65 million-square-foot indoor theme park slated to open on Yas Island this summer. The other themed lands include: Metropolis, Gotham City, Cartoon Junction, and Warner Bros. Plaza. The park will feature 29 rides, multiple shows and other interactive attractions.
Inspired by the animated characters from Hanna-Barbera and Looney Tunes, these Bedrock and Dynamite Gulch areas are home to four rides and attractions, two themed restaurants and two shops inspired by the characters and stories from cartoons like The Flintstones and The Jetsons.
"We're incredibly delighted to bring iconic animated characters to life through none other than the park's very own Bedrock and Dynamite Gulch,” said park general manager Mark Gsellman in a statement. “The characters in these lands have fascinated fans of every age for decades, and it will be a dream come true for many of our guests to walk the streets they know and love.”
Bedrock, home to Fred, Wilma, and Pebbles Flintstone, as well as Barney, Betty, and Bamm-Bamm Rubble, provides such sightseeing opportunities as The Flintstones Bedrock River Adventure, where passengers can embark on a scenic boat ride through stone-age wetlands, prehistoric neighborhoods and the city's downtown area. (We're guessing that if we meet Fred and Barney, we probably won't be able to bum smokes off of them.)
Meanwhile, Dynamite Gulch is where guests can "encounter" the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote, as well as Marvin The Martian, Yosemite Sam, and The Jetsons. One ride featured is the “Fast and Furry-ous,” a rollercoaster designed to resemble Wile E. Coyote's ACME Road Rocket 9000. (Here’s hoping it’s safer for humans than it is for Wile.)
Visitors can also check out “Yosemite Sam Rootin' Tootin' Gas,” a kitschy, Route 66-themed shop filled with all the oddities Sam has acquired throughout his travels.
More details are available on the theme park’s website.
