Beetlejuice meets New York Fashion Week in the best way possible

New York Fashion Week is often a scary affair, but in a way that is different than the scary affairs we usually deal with here at SYFY WIRE. Well, until now.

To celebrate the end of NYFW, director Bardia Zeinali and fashion editor Jorden Bickham made a short film featuring some of their favorite looks from Fashion Week. And in order to do that, Zeinali and Bickham highlighted the over-the-top-ness of high couture with the over-the-top-ness of Tim Burton.

Zeinali and Bickham enlisted the help of the Hadid family, "fashion's reigning family." Bella, Gigi, and Anwar, all models, are joined by their mother Yolanda, a former model and star of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, for a dinner that we can only assume consists of rum and bananas. But the dinner gets out of hand and they end up possessed and dancing to "Day-O" by Harry Belafonte, in a choreographed dance that is very similar to the famous dinner scene from Tim Burton's Beetlejuice.

There is less butt wiggling in the Hadid version, and the demonic hand grabbing the dinner guests in Beetlejuice has been replaced by the Hadids finding their own heads on their plates. Not really sure which is scarier, but a hand grabbing you by the face is certain to smear your makeup and tousle your hair. In the fashion world, that is not only scary; that is terrifying.

Check out the video above, along with the original scene from Beetlejuice below. Get more details on the models and the clothes at Vogue.com. You will also find a gif of Gigi channeling what appears to be Edward Scissorhands, another Tim Burton creepy classic.
