For many readers, The Muppet Show, Muppet Babies or any one of a dozen shows or movies were a part of your childhood. Now the Muppets are about to become a part of your adulthood: The Muppets, a slightly more mature version of the puppets we’ve loved for years, will air on ABC starting Sept. 22, 2015. So, what convinced ABC to give the Muppets some air time?
This 10-minute video, that’s what.
According to The Muppets' Twitter page, the presentation below convinced ABC to make a new Muppet show: “It was never meant to be seen by the public. But following Comic-Con, demand to see it was overwhelming.” ABC has now released “The Muppets - First Look Presentation.”
As we see, The Muppets is an homage to mockumentaries like The Office, Parks and Recreation and Modern Family, with shaky hand-held cameras and interrupts for personal interviews. And we get personal, all right. We see Fozzie struggle for his girlfriend’s parents' approval, as well as some awkward tension between Kermit and Miss Piggy, who are now ex-boyfrog and girlpig.
It’s delightful: funny, sweet and oh-so Muppetastic. It’s now a must-watch show in fall 2015. Check it out.
