It will take much more than all the Mystic Moons of Munnopor to stop me in my endeavors to acquire one of these superb Doctor Strange variant figures from Square Enix. Marvel's Master of the Mystic Arts is the latest comic-book character to be given a unique twist in the Japanese company's wild Play Arts Kai line of slightly-askew collectible incarnations.

Last month we delivered the first mindblowing images of their magnificent Magneto release, and I truly believed at the time that it could not be topped. Guess again! Square Enix's dramatic, 10-inch Doctor Strange is painted in a hypnotic range of intense colors to complement his kaleidoscopic conjurations and a transformable Cloak of Levitation to suit his dangerous diversions into the Dark Dimension.

Here's the official description:

His signature cape can be inverted for a multitude of poses, while the exaggerated contrast unique to the paintwork of the Marvel Universe Variant series brings out his profound presence. Articulated areas such as the chest, shoulders, and hips incorporate flexible materials to allow for a wide range of motion.

With magic glyphs and effect parts constructed with translucent materials, as well as interchangeable hand parts, our Doctor Strange figure can be posed in various dynamic ways. Measuring 10 1/2-inches tall, he includes a display stand and comes packaged in a window box.

This Play Arts Kai Marvel Variant Doctor Strange figure is poised for pre-order now for $149.99 with shipping, set for October 2017.
