It’s been a few years since we’ve seen the Fantastic Four grace the pages of a comic. But “The World’s Greatest Comics Magazine” is officially back, and what better way to celebrate than with a wedding that has been a long time coming?
According to Marvel, this December will finally see the wedding between the Thing, Ben Grimm, and his long-time love, Alicia Masters.
First appearing in Fantastic Four #8 in 1962, the blind sculptor Masters has had an on-again, off-again relationship with the ever-loving, blue-eyed Thing. Comic fans knew that eventually, the two would tie the knot, even when they thought she was married to the Human Torch (but that was a Skrull in disguise, so it didn’t count).
The wedding will take place in Fantastic Four #5, which is #650 if you are going by the Legacy numbers. This landmark issue will be written by Dan Slott, with art by Adam Hughes, Michael Allred, and Aaron Kuder. Esad Ribic provides this "fantastic" cover art.
If recent history has shown us anything, being wary of the wedding happening is a warranted response. Marvel has guaranteed that while some shenanigans will ensue, Ben and Alicia will be husband and wife at the end of the issue. They have been one of the longest-running relationships in Marvel’s history, and it's incredible to see that relationship made even stronger.
Fantastic Four #5 hits comic shops and digital Dec. 26.
