Paramount Pictures has finally thrown us a bone. The identity of Benedict Cumberbatch's Star Trek villain has been revealed. The studio's released a new photo that gives a name to the raven-haired baddie.

Paramount captioned the photo with Cumberbatch listed as John Harrison. Who is he and what does he bring to the table? This could be a cover to throw fans off his true identity (i.e. Miranda Tate, The Dark Knight Rises). Fans have been screaming Khan since before filming began and they're not letting up. Harrison could also be Gary Mitchell, a character who has a connection to Kirk and Starfleet. Just check out that shirt! We smell a red herring.

Harrison has the undivided attention of Capt. Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto). Judging by this photo, it looks like the good guys have the upper hand. But do they really? We all know what happened when Loki was captured in The Avengers. Plus, would the villain give in that easily? Something has to be up.

Star Trek Into Darkness takes the Enterprise crew on another intergalactic adventure. This time they'll face a threat from inside their own organization. Kirk has a personal stake in the investigation and leads the charge to "a war-zone world to capture a one-man weapon of mass destruction."

Sounds heavy!

Star Trek Into Darkness opens May 17, 2013.

What do you think "Harrison" is up to?
