He may have beamed off the villain role of “John Harrison” in Star Trek Into Darkness, but Benicio Del Toro (The Wolfman) has just nabbed a mysterious lead role in director James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy! Question is: who is he playing?
Deadline reports that Del Toro has signed on to play "a character that is built to be part of future Marvel films, which means he has signed a deal with options that put him into multiple movies."
Although the character he’ll play is shrouded in mystery, rumors are swirling that he could be playing Thanos—the big bad mysterious villain who appeared during the end credits in last year’s hit The Avengers.
Del Toro’s casting follows the announcement that former Doctor Who companion Karen Gillan has also been cast as the main female baddie of the intergalactic flick, along with Pushing Daisies’ Lee Pace, who will play the main villain.
With a huge cast that also boasts Glenn Close, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Michael Rooker, Dave Bautista and John C. Reilly, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is shaping up to be THE movie to see in 2014.
What do you guys think: Do you believe Benicio Del Toro will be Thanos? And if he is, do you think he has the acting chops to play the Mad Titan?
