Comedy greats Nick Kroll and John Mulaney have shown the full range of life-cycle humor of late, as their stage show "Oh, Hello" had them playing a couple of dudes way older than their real ages to hilarious effect (who knew tuna sandwiches could be so funny?) and now Big Mouth, the Netflix animated series co-created by Kroll and Andrew Goldberg, with it's two main characters, Nick and Andrew, voiced by Kroll and Mulaney respectively, finds them at the opposite end of the spectrum: playing teenagers with just as big of a healthy dose of absurdity.
Add to those jokesters a voice cast that includes such comedy heavy hitters as SNL alum Maya Rudolph and Fred Armisen, and how can the series not be a knee slapping send-up of the sturm und drang of adolescence? As we see in Season 2's new trailer, out today, the next season brings with it a new character and new talent in the form of David Thewliss as "The Shame Wizard." (Ah, shame! What a fun part of being in high school! It gets better.)
See what all the goofing around's about below:
Thewliss is an accomplished British actor in his own right, but genre fans may remember him best as Remus Lupin, former professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts... and, of course, a werewolf. Makes perfect sense. Who better to comment on adolescence than that eternal symbol of transformation fear: a lycanthrope? Season 2 debuts on October 5th, "Shame Wizard" included.
