Our favorite time-traveling duo from San Dimas are back for a brand-new excellent adventure.

Titled Bill & Ted Save the Universe, the new comic series from BOOM! Studios reunites the Bill & Ted Go To Hell creative team of writer Brian Joines and artist Bachan; and this time we’re going for an intergalactic ride in the pair’s time-traveling TARDIS phone booth! (Then again, maybe the phone booth won't be there, since Bill and Ted get kidnapped by an ALIEN. And a "bodacious" one at that.) Here’s a short official synopsis from BOOM!:

The Wyld Stallyns are back, and this time they're travelling across the whole universe! Bill and Ted have been kidnapped by a bodacious alien and are handed over to...their long-lost family?!

Here’s what Brian Joines said about the new comic’s storyline, which is actually pretty close to the plot of the stuck-in-development-hell-forever-and-ever third movie (as revealed by star Keanu Reeves):

“In Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, the duo was tasked with creating a song to save the universe. While they never got around to that, fast forward a couple centuries, and their music is now something galaxies fight over. In Bill & Ted Save the Universe, Bill & Ted's music is supposed to bring peace to the cosmos, but peace doesn't just happen overnight — there's always resistance to anything that rattles the status quo,” said Joines. “It's such a broad, fun, goofy tale that as long as you maintain those levels, there's really nothing that's off the table in terms of where you take the story and the characters. They've already time-traveled and visited the afterlife — why NOT send them on some big intergalactic adventure next?”

Bill & Ted Save the Universe will debut in July for a five-issue run. Have a look at Bachan's cover art from issue #1, and let us know if you’re planning on picking up the title as soon as it hits comic book stores.
