In the pantheon of formidable British vampire hunters, the legendary Captain Kronos ranks among the most feared and notoriously efficient. Accompanied by his faithful hunchback partner, Hieronymus Grost, and sexy assistant, Carla, Kronos was first immortalized in the cult 1974 Hammer horror film Captain Kronos -- Vampire Hunter.

Directed by Brian Clemens (Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde), this racy, R-rated affair followed the swashbuckling exploits of these deadly supernatural slayers as they tangled with a brood of youth-sucking creatures preying on an innocent village. Hammer had hoped this to be their next big franchise, but due to changing cinematic tastes and financial difficulties, the film legacy of Captain Kronos was laid to rest.

A new four-part comic series from Titan Comics is resurrecting the famed nosferatu fighter in Captain Kronos #1, a Hammer Comics title that is the second in a line restoring properties of the iconic English studio that began with The Mummy last year.

Written by Dan Abnett (Guardians of the Galaxy, Warhammer 40K), with art by Tom Mandrake (Batman, Martian Manhunter), this new horror title has the benefit of an exceptional creative team and a cool character that has unlimited potential moving forward in his odd occult adventures.

Here's the official solicitation synopsis:

In the depths of Eastern Europe, the legendary vampire hunter, Captain
Kronos, and his two assistants, Grost and Carla, are called upon to
help rid a town of its vampire plague.

However, beneath the surface of the beleaguered town a malevolent
force far more evil and deadly is awakening and it might just be the
match of Kronos...
