Black Lightning crushed its first season, breaking onto an already saturated TV superhero scene with confidence and a specific voice ready to rock some worlds. As it heads into Season 2 with Black Lightning (and family) back in the super-saddle ready to protect his community, the show’s galvanized fanbase is raring to learn.
At San Diego Comic-Con, the cast and producers held a special video presentation before their Q&A panel, which featured stars Cress Williams, China Anne McClain, Nafessa Williams, Christine Adams, Marvin "Krondon" Jones III, Damon Gupton, and James Remar alongside producers Salim and Mara Brock Akil as they talked about what’s to come.
Gupton explained that, while he's putting up with Black Lightning more in Season 2, the hero continues to be a "necessary evil" for Inspector Henderson. Williams teased that Season 2 will see Black Lightning struggling to juggle the triple jobs of being a hero, a principal, and a father. Sounds like the school might lose a leader.
However, the most exciting announcement came from Akil, who said that Jordan Calloway (who plays Khalil/Painkiller) will become a series regular next season. The town's accumulating supers fast -- and Season 2 doesn't look like it's letting up.
Black Lightning returns on October 9.
