Get ready for another round of addictive, fascinating, and often terrifying Black Mirror episodes. Netflix announced Monday that the beloved sci-fi anthology series has been renewed for a fifth season on the streaming service.
The news comes a little more than two months after the fourth season premiered to critical acclaim thanks to episodes like the Star Trek-inspired "USS Callister" and the futuristic dating app exploration "Hang The DJ."
In true Black Mirror fashion, the announcement of the fifth season was brief and mysterious, featuring only a short teaser video made up of brief clips of old episodes and a nod to the Season 2 story "Be Right Back."
That, sadly, is all we have to go on right now. There's no indication when the series will resume production on new episodes, no casting or directing information, and no episode count. Perhaps most frustrating, though: We have no idea when the show will return.
It's possible we can look forward to a holiday special later this year, but even if that happens it might be a longer wait for a full season. All we know with any certainty is that Black Mirror will continue ... soon. Or at least soon-ish.
