After six years of MCU buildup, Avengers: Infinity War finally gave fans an extended spotlight on Thanos as he manhandled almost every hero he came across. Granted, Thanos had the Infinity Gauntlet and the powers of a god, but you can bet that the Avengers are dying for a rematch. Or just dying. While Avengers 4 is a year away, the first episode of LEGO Marvel Super Heroes — Black Panther: Trouble in Wakanda gives the heroes a second chance to take down the Mad Titan. And this time, Thanos doesn’t have any Infinity Gems to call his own.
Via Entertainment Weekly, this short is the first of five shorts that puts LEGO Black Panther in the spotlight. Thanos also gets a good deal of screen time here as he practices his supervillain linguistics. But Thanos is not quite as intimidating without his signature accessory.
Black Panther isn’t the only hero to get his shot at Thanos here. Infinity War inspired versions of Iron Man, Black Widow, Hulk, and Captain America are all present, even though they can’t make it through a lunch without getting sucked into a superhero battle. It’s the curse of Marvel’s New York City. So many supervillains and heroes living so close together inevitably causes problems.
Somehow, we doubt that the live-action Thanos will be dealt with as swiftly as his toy counterpart. But the conclusion implies that Thanos is teaming up with Erik Killmonger and Ulysses Klaue to steal Wakanda’s Vibranium from Black Panther and his people.
Disney XD will air all five of the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes — Black Panther: Trouble in Wakanda shorts on June 3.
