Advance ticket sales don’t lie: People are going all-out to see Black Panther. And the box office predictions certainly reflect that.
According to Variety, the upcoming Marvel film is tracking for a $100-120 million four-day opening weekend, which is around the same as both of last years’ MCU hits, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok.
However, as has been seen in the past (per Variety), box office predictors don't always consider a black audience’s excitement for a good film that speaks to their demographic. So these numbers may still end up on the low end -- especially after the Super Bowl builds Wakanda excitement even further.
Black Panther has featured cars heavily in its marketing teasers and trailers, but now that the film's Super Bowl commercial has been released early, we get to see just how deep that relationship goes. And there seems to be a remote-controlled supercar coming T’Challa’s way in the near future. Take a look:
Yep, that’s Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and sister Shuri (Letitia Wright) kicking all things kickable to Run the Jewels’ anthemic "Legend Has It,” all in support of a Lexus -- or is that Lexus supporting its monarch? Can cars have kings?
All things -- including cars and ticket sales -- will bow to Black Panther when it opens on Feb. 16.
