After a long and successful awards season for genre movies, culminating with Guillermo del Toro’s big wins at the Academy Awards for The Shape of Water, the genre-focused Saturn Awards have announced their nominees for a variety of fun categories — with a few familiar properties touting the highest totals. Not content with breaking every box-office record, Black Panther leads with 14 nominations, with Star Wars: The Last Jedi right behind with 13.
The Shape of Water and the underappreciated Blade Runner 2049 earned 9 nods each, while The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and Twin Peaks: The Return pushed through the avalanche of superhero, horror, and sci-fi TV to take the top nominations. In somewhat of an upset, these nominations left films like Get Out beaten by those of an even more mainstream quality — like It.

While these awards may need to be reminded what a “thriller” actually is after looking at those nominees, they also point out a few fun notables that have been all but ignored in mainstream accolades.
Danai Gurira, for instance, was nominated for two Best Supporting Actress awards, one for The Walking Dead and one for Black Panther. Meanwhile, Hulu’s Future Man was nominated for Best New Media Superhero Series despite not being about a superhero.
You can find the rest of the extensive nominees on the Saturn Awards website or wait until the 44th Annual Saturn Awards is presented on June 27 to simply find out who won.
