Here's the new trailer for Blade of the Immortal, the live-action feature adaptation based on the popular manga and anime series of the same name. There's plenty of sensational samurai swordplay, ancient temples, blood vendettas, mystical healing worms and ultraviolence to be absorbed in this latest preview.

First appearing in manga form in 1993, the award-winning series by Hiroaki Samura is set in 18th-century feudal Japan during the Tokugawa Shogunate period and chronicles the quest of a cursed immortal samurai named Manji, an expert swordsman who must murder 1,000 evil men to restore his mortality. An anime series was produced in 2008.

Take a stab at the new promo for Blade of the Immortal and tell us if you think this samurai saga might have the (sharp) edge in the international market. Directed by Takashi Miike, the film opens in Japan on April 29.
