We still have a few months to wait until director Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049 opens in theaters. To whet our appetite for the hotly anticipated Blade Runner sequel, an international trailer (it’s being touted as a TV spot, but clocking-in at nearly two-minutes, let's call it a trailer) has dropped.
Starring Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard (who may or may not be a Replicant, even Deckard himself is unsure) and Ryan Gosling as new blade runner Officer K, Blade Runner 2049 also stars Ana de Armas, Robin Wright, Jared Leto, Barkhad Abdi, Lennie James, Mackenzie Davis, Sylvia Hoeks, Dave Bautista and Edward James Olmos (who is reprising the role of Gaff), the movie was written by Hampton Fancher (Blade Runner) and Michael Green (Green Lantern), based on a story by Ridley Scott and Fancher.
The new trailer features a boatload of brand-new scenes and is definitely worth digging into. Most notably, we get to see some of the less-gritty parts of the future (plus a whole lot of the gritty ones).
The sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 sci-fi movie is set 30 years after the first film and follows Gosling’s new blade runner as he “unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard, a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.”
Blade Runner 2049 opens in theaters on October 6. Check out the new trailer, and chime in with your thoughts.
