We've got the new trailer for Alexandre Aja's Piranha 3D, based loosely on Joe Dante's original 1978 man-eating-fish movie.

The new twist on the bloody Jaws ripoff is that the toothy predators are prehistoric beasts that take on a lake full of scantily clad spring-break revelers. Speaking of Jaws, it also stars Richard Dreyfuss, not to mention Back to the Future's Doc Brown himself, Christopher Lloyd. Did we mention it's in 3-D?

So trashy we kind of can't resist it. Following is the official description.

From director Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes) comes the new action thriller PIRANHA 3D. Every year the population of sleepy Lake Victoria explodes from 5,000 to 50,000 for Spring Break; a riot of sun and drunken fun. But this year, there's something more to worry about than hangovers and complaints from local old timers; a new type of terror is about to be cut loose on Lake Victoria. After a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the area's new razor-toothed residents. The films stars Jessica Szohr (Gossip Girl), Steven R. McQueen (The Vampire Diaries), Elisabeth Shue, Jerry O'Connell, Ving Rhames, Richard Dreyfuss Adam Scott and Christopher Lloyd.

Piranha 3D opens nationwide Aug 27.
