Star Trek fans have been waiting for the debut of the franchise's new TV show, Star Trek: Discovery, through countless production delays and shifts in those behind the camera (not to mention the disappointing news that it would be available exclusively on CBS All Access, the network's streaming platform). But now, the premiere date is just around the corner, and the folks at CBS have a treat in store for us.

One of the most iconic aspects of Star Trek are the myriad and wonderful orchestral main titles for each show (let's not talk about Star Trek: Enterprise). That's why it's so exciting that we now have a clip of composer Jefferson Russo discussing the main title for Star Trek: Discovery.

"The music of Trek is a critical part of the experience of Trek," says co-creator and executive producer Alexander Kurtzman. The theme takes its inspiration from the original Alexander Courage theme from The Original Series before moving into a new and fresh theme for Discovery. You can listen for yourself below.
