The first images of Netflix's The Haunting of Hill House have made their way online. Based on Shirley Jackson's 1959 horror novel of the same name, the show stars Carla Gugino (Watchmen), Michiel Huisman (Game of Thrones), Timothy Hutton (#Horror), and Henry Thomas (E.T.).
Described as a modern retelling of Jackson's classic book, this version of Hill House "explores a group of siblings who, as children, grew up in what would go on to become the most famous haunted house in the country. Now adults, and forced back together in the face of tragedy, the family must finally confront the ghosts of their past — some of which still lurk in their minds while others may actually be stalking the shadows of Hill House."
This will be the third onscreen take on the novel after two film versions in 1963 and 1999.
Adapted, directed, and executive-produced by horror veteran Mike Flanagan (Oculus, Hush, Before I Wake, Ouija: Origin of Evil, and Gerald’s Game), The Haunting of Hill House moves into the Netflix neighborhood on Oct. 12. The project is a joint production between Amblin TV and Paramount Television.
