"It moves from planet-to-planet. It's known as the Collector of Worlds, but it's true name...is Brainiac," says a clearly shaken Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos) in a clip from SYFY's upcoming Superman prequel series Krypton.
We're just a month out from the show's arrival and finally have a good first look at the main villain, Brainiac (Blake Ritson). The classic Superman nemesis wants to conquer Kal-El's future birthplace and it's up to his grandather, Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), to stop him.
The show will depict Brainiac in his humanoid form with green skin and black tendrils sticking out of his body, but the creative team also wanted to make him a lot more formidable. "We really decided to take a run at making him colder and more emotionally distant and ancient," said President and Chief Creative Officer of DC Entertainment Geoff Johns. Just to make him even scarier, he flies around in a skull-shaped spaceship. The dude is like Thanos, Galactus, and Supreme Leader Snoke wrapped into one scary package.
Check out the reveal in the featurette below:
In the comics, Brainiac is one of Superman's main adversaries aside from Lex Luthor. Hailing from the planet of Colu (although some comics say he is from Krypton, depending on the continuity), he is part android, part computer, and uses advanced alien technology in his battles against the Man of Steel. Notable among his misdeeds is the shrinking the Kryptonian city of Kandor and preserving it on his ship with more cities from other worlds.
Krypton premieres March 21 on SYFY.
