Actor Brent Briscoe has died after suffering from internal injuries as a result of a fall. He was 56.
The actor's rep confirmed Briscoe's passing, saying in a statement to Variety: "We lost a class act on Wednesday. Brent played hundreds of roles throughout his career but his greatest role was to his family and friends. He was as genuine as they come. We will miss him dearly.”
A veteran character actor, Briscoe's face and dry Missourian voice paved the way to speaking roles such as Detective Dave Macklay in seven episodes of the 2017 version of Twin Peaks and Bill Dodge in The Green Mile. He also appeared in Spider-Man 2, The Dark Knight Rises, and the horror comedy Zombeavers.
Non-genre roles include Parks and Recreation and Sling Blade.
In addition to acting, Briscoe was also a writer, having penned two films — Walking Up in Reno and The Right to Remain Silent — as well as two episodes of a TV series called Evening Shade.
In a statement, director David Lynch mourned his erstwhile star and collaborator: “I want you to know how much I loved working with Brent. I worked with him on Mulholland Drive and Twin Peaks. I loved him as an actor and a great person... I will really miss working with Brent again."
