Getting ready for the big role? Actress Brie Larson was spotted visiting a military base in the Las Vegas Valley on Thursday, ahead of starring as the titular Captain Marvel in the comic book flick about an Air Force pilot who develops superhuman powers.

Instagram user Don Wallace posted a picture of himself meeting Larson at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, revealing: “Had the opportunity to have lunch with Brie Larson today!! Going to show her around the F15 later for her upcoming movie “Captain Marvel””

At this stage, it’s unclear exactly what Larson was doing at the base, but judging from the caption it seems it’s fair to suggest that the Oscar winner is getting some preparation for her MCU role.

You’ll know from the comics just how devoted Carol Danvers is to life at the Air Force base. In the comics, Danvers is just 18 when she turns her back on her father and joins the Air Force, with hopes of studying to become a pilot. She’s eventually recruited into Air Force Intelligence, and later becomes the youngest security captain in NASA's history.

If the movie version is to include a decent origin story for the character (which we hope it does) then surely Larson will have had plenty of questions at the ready on her recent visit.

Marvel's first female-led film – from directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck – has a slated release date of March 6, 2019. DeWanda Wise, who currently stars in Netflix's She's Gotta Have It, was recently revealed as Larson’s co-star in the movie. The film will also reportedly bring Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury back into the fold.
