Adrenaline junkies and thrill ride aficionados worldwide will toss up their hands in glee with news of a crazy new wooden mega-coaster being erected in England themed after the Wicker Man legend.

The Alton Towers Resort amusement park in the UK will be the proud recipient of this insane attraction this spring, which will be the first wooden coaster built on British soil in over 21 years. Blueprints for this wicked beast include a giant pagan Wicker Man structure standing sixty feet tall as the centerpiece of the wild "wood and flame" ride.

Based in Celtic mythology, the Wicker Man was a massive wicker structure used by priests for pagan sacrificial purposes. A 1973 cult horror film, The Wicker Man, was directed by Robin Hardy and starred Edward Woodward and Christoper Lee. It's best not to mention the forgettable 2006 remake led by Nicolas Cage.

Designers and engineers have added some heat to the twisted plans and included many fire effects as the Wicker Man appears to ignite into raging flames while the coaster train races three times through the incendiary effigy to bring good luck and well being to brave riders.

Check out the time-lapse construction video and promotional material for this prime attraction below and tell us if you'd offer yourself up to this scorching new Wicker Man coaster!
