Ripley's Believe It or Not SDCC panel shows sneak peek, breaks iron bars

Longtime genre favorite Bruce Campbell has been all over the spectrum of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy. Now, as the host of Travel Channel's new Ripley's Believe It or Not!, he's been bringing some real-life wonders to the small screen. His first appearance alongside some of the show's incredible subjects was also his first time meeting them, which meant that the show's panel at San Diego Comic-Con was a special one.

SYFY WIRE attended the panel, which featured Campbell, “Cyborg” Angel Giuffria, John “Hammerhead” Ferraro, “Half-man” Short E. Dangerously, and Ripleys.com editor/producer Sabrina Sieck as they talked all things fantastic. And please note, these nicknames are official - no editorializing here on these already sensational figures.

Each panelist got a small clip showcasing their special talent or unique situation. Dangerously was seen about to jump onto a pile of broken glass, Giuffria's long history of prosthetic limbs got a backstory, and Ferraro broke basically everything breakable with his noggin. Basically, we got our own live show featuring the incredible performers fans can see in the series. Sieck elaborated on how the increased availability of these subjects online has made the show try harder (and go deeper) to tell its heroes' stories.

The show also showed off a sneak peek of its upcoming episode - after Ferraro broke some iron bars on his head, of course. The preview highlighted a man that built insane cars: cars that drove on their sides, cars that look like airplanes, cars driven by men in neon underwear. To cap it all off, the mechanic/racer behind it all asked Campbell from the audience to join him - and was quickly shot down by the actor. However, fans can see the episode tomorrow night from a safe distance.

Ripley's Believe It or Not! airs on Sundays on the Travel Channel.
