Bruce Campbell says ‘Ash is done’ if Starz cancels Ash vs. Evil Dead

Despite the powers-that-be originally having a five-year plan for Ash vs Evil Dead, Starz has yet to announce whether the show will be back for a fourth season. While Bruce Campbell’s Ashley J. Williams and his faithful sidekicks Pablo and Kelly are currently slashing and dicing Deadites for Season 3, it looks like it may be the end of the road for Ash if the show gets the ax, err, chainsaw.

About a month ago, Campbell had a more positive attitude concerning life after Ash vs Evil Dead for our chainsaw-wielding lothario when the actor told EW that if Starz canceled the series, they might think of doing another Evil Dead movie. “We’re going to see what the TV gods have in store for us,” Campbell said. “We’re ready either way. If they take us off the air, we can think about another movie. And if they don’t, we can just keep plugging away.”

Fast-forward to a recent Q&A that took place during “An Evening With Bruce Campbell,” which was held by the Irish Film Institute. Campbell was on hand to promote his latest book, Hail to the Chin, and the actor was asked about the future of the iconic character. In a video shared via Twitter by Dave Williams, Campbell said he thinks he will be putting the character on ice if this is the end of the road for Ash’s bloody gory TV adventures.

“Another movie? No, no, no,” Campbell said. “Because if they cancel it I think Ash is done. There’s lavender on my property. I’m gonna smoke weed and hang out.”

Even though Campbell mentioned in the EW interview they won’t know about the show’s ultimate fate until mid-March (which is now past due), we may have to wait until May before we finally learn of Starz’s decision concerning Ash vs Evil Dead.

What do you think about Campbell's comments that it could be the end for Ash if Ash vs Evil Dead is canceled?
